On 12 September, Dominik Hübler will speak on the panel discussion “Germany’s Heat Transition—Opportunities and Challenges of Expanding District Heating Networks” at the 2024 IPFA Future Leaders Network event. Mr. Hübler will be joined by experts from various fields including KfW IPEX-Bank, N-ERGIE, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, and MEAG. The panel will shed light on the possibilities of realizing ambitious district heating goals from the perspectives of financing, regulation, and sustainability.

Mr. Hübler will compare the regulatory regime and decarbonisation goals for district heat in Germany to those in other countries. He will also look at lessons learned from the regulatory treatment of power and gas networks, and he will assess whether the tools developed for those sectors will also be able to support cost-effective decarbonisation in the district heat sector.
