Antonio Colomer is an economist specializing in energy markets, with a core focus in the electricity sector. He has experience advising leading energy companies in Spain and abroad and conducting economic analysis for a range of issues including market modeling and forecasting, cost of capital estimation, damages quantification, expert reports, and policy proposals. He applies economic principles and econometric techniques to provide fair and efficient solutions to clients.
Mr. Colomer has experience modeling wholesale electricity markets to perform policy-impact analysis, forecast price and revenue, and analyze the optimal behavior of market participants. His work also involves the estimation of cost of capital for regulated activities in Spain and other European countries.
Mr. Colomer has participated in several international due diligence matters, including the valuation of the regulatory risk to renewable power assets and the risk associated to stranded gas assets. He has assisted in disputes involving damages quantification to power plants and electricity suppliers. Mr. Colomer has also provided support to international investors regarding business opportunities in the Spanish electricity sector and modeled supplier cashflows to analyze regulatory changes.
Prior to joining NERA, Mr. Colomer worked as a research assistant in the department of behavioral economics at the University of Valencia.
