On 2 July, NERA and DIS40, the initiative for young arbitration practitioners in Germany, will co-host an expert witness cross-examination workshop in NERA’s Berlin office. The workshop will provide individuals with an opportunity to present their cases before experienced arbitrators and engage in cross-examination with experts.

In this workshop, teams of two participants will act as counsel and work together with a NERA expert to analyze simulated international arbitration case materials and prepare their cross-examination strategy. On the day of the “hearing,” each team will deliver an opening statement that focuses on the expert opinions and cross-examine the opposing team’s expert in the presence of experienced arbitrators.

A team of NERA economists including Senior Consultant/Principal Niko Czaplicki, Director Dominik Hübler, Consultant Leonie Janisch, and Economic Analyst Philip vom Baur helped set up the mock case materials and will defend their economic analyses under cross-examination.
